Indiana Connections Career Academy (INCC) is a tuition-free, virtual public school for students in grades 6-12 throughout Indiana. INCC was developed with a strong focus on career readiness, and CTE offerings, and offers students programs of study in one of six in-demand career pathways. INCC is authorized by Ball State University and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Indiana Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Indiana, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working remotely from your home office, the Virtual Term of Project Mathematics Teacher/Interventionist will utilize the Pearson Online Classroom to motivate students as they work through their curricula, deliver synchronous instruction, provide intervention and enrichment, and use data to diagnose student learning needs. This is a temporary year-to-year assignment, which could lead to a full-time regular position, depending on performance and school budget.
Term of Project
Based on potential student enrollment changes, this position will work until the end of each semester of the 2022-2023 school year. At that time, the school and department leadership will evaluate the status of this position and could extend it for the following enrollment period or school year if they deem it necessary. Full time positions are eligible for most employee benefits, including medical, dental and vision.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a long-term substitute for math educator colleagues who take personal leaves of absences;
- When not substituting for colleagues, provide intervention supports for students or teach specific sections of mathematics courses;
- Represent a commitment to equitable practice in all areas within the job description; this includes use of evidence to make decisions, holding high expectations for all students and committing to providing individualized support to all students to meet those expectations;
- Support the instructional program with asynchronous recorded lessons and synchronous instruction, along with individual communications and interventions;
- Provide clear, constructive, and consistent feedback for all student work, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner, when applicable;
- Communicate with parents, students and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, score assessments, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects;
- Operate within the Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered System of Supports model, using data and evidence to provide Tier 1 differentiated instruction to all students while working with a team of teachers to develop and implement Tier 2 and 3 interventions;
- Work collaboratively with other staff within a professional learning community to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program, that parents have a central point of contact, and that tasks are distributed among staff;
- Keep student records and data up-to-date, including cumulative files, online student and family information, attendance accounting, and logging all student and parent contacts;
- Actively attend in-person events and engage with staff, students, and families;
- Participate in the organization and administration of in-person State Testing at an assigned testing location in Indiana;
- Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing efforts that require teacher representation;
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Currently holds or is immediately eligible for Indiana middle school and high school mathematics certification
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Highly organized and punctual
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills which include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds
- Willingness to travel for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
- Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
- Additional certifications a plus
- Digital teaching experience a plus
- Indiana residents are preferred, although we will consider exceptional out-of-state candidates
