Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Director of Engineering to join our team. You will partner with leaders on our Product and Business teams to develop strategy, roadmap, and ultimately execution towards the systems and services we need to scale our business.

Your responsibilities will spread across People, Process and Technology. You will drive your team including recruiting, coaching, performance management. You will recommend and refine the engineering processes to establish accountability and performance. You will develop a technical strategy to build for maintainability and scale, while promoting innovative opportunities across the team.

You will partner with your Engineering peers to ensure we solve problems company-wide, establish smart practices around ownership, and find elegant solutions to complex business challenges.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build and manage engineering teams across multiple time zones and disciplines.
  2. Cultivate high standards for communication, ownership, and quality while executing asynchronously.
  3. Along with Product and Business teams, develop and execute a strategic roadmap while mitigating implementation risks.
  4. Develop future leaders by fostering technical and people skills development.
  5. Responsible for technical scaling to ensure the long-term success of the platform.
  6. Be a strong voice of clarity in a world of fast-growing startups, and teach your teams to function when faced with ambiguity.

About you:

  • 5+ years managing multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong experience with Java (Kotlin knowledge is a plus), distributed systems design (microservices), and relational databases.
  • Ability to understand, diagnose, and effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  • Deep understanding of Processes, and how to build and iterate within a high-performing team.
  • Profound empathy for individuals on the team, the ability to have hard conversations, demand and achieve high performance, and prioritize a culture that leads to sustained success.
