Job Description

An inclusive work environment is an empowering one. At Cutover, we lead with empathy and enable others to succeed through curiosity, kindness, and self-expression.

Location: This role is flexible in location, but we would like you to be able to commute to our London office on occasion.

Cutover has built the world’s first enterprise-wide work orchestration and observability platform that enables seamless human and machine collaboration. Last year, we announced a $35 million Series B financing round led by Eldridge (alongside existing investors Index Ventures, Sussex Place Ventures, and Contour Ventures) and we’re thrilled to be embarking on our next exciting chapters of growth.

With Cutover, you’ll be joining a visionary organization and making a real impact. We’re scaling all of our teams at Cutover in a big way in 2022, so we’re making sure we build the operational infrastructure to enable us to scale in a sustainable manner. Our Executive team is keen to invest in building a world-class in-house Legal function, so we’re delighted to start the search for a stellar Mid-Senior Legal Counsel to join us and propel our team forward. This is a London-based role.

What impact will you have as our Legal Counsel (London)?

  • Working closely with our VP Legal and legal team, you’ll be leading negotiations with some of the world’s largest and most exciting companies (including our clients, partners, and suppliers), helping to develop our partner legal track (working on reselling, managed outsourcing and referral arrangements) and generally helping to finesse the foundations that our VP Legal has already established. You’ll be negotiating an excitingly broad array of technology, data, and intellectual property contracts and mentoring our junior legal team members.
  • Collaborating with various departments, you’ll be a trusted advisor across the team.
  • You’ll provide a strong level of partnership to our go-to-market teams: collaborating closely with our VP’s of Sales, Partnerships, and Customer Success, providing expert counsel, and ensuring legal is seen as a deal accelerator, rather than a bottleneck.
  • You will be actively supervising, mentoring and developing our junior legal counsels, paralegals and other legal team members with our VP Legal. This is not the role for you if you are not interested in helping the team to shine and grow into the best lawyers and legal team contributors they can be.

What we’d like you to bring to the table…

  • You’re a UK, Irish, Canadian, New Zealand or Australian Qualified Lawyer based in or around London.
  • We’re seeing this as a mid-level (emerging senior-level) Legal Counsel role, so you’ll have around 5-7 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Ideally, you’ll have played a Legal Counsel role in other quickly-growing technology businesses; bonus points if you’re coming from an Enterprise B2B SaaS company working with financial services clients and you understand the complexity and nuance of navigating high-value contracts and lengthy deal cycles.
  • You’re fascinated by new tech and innovative ways of doing business – you’re not a back-office legal person, but someone who wants to be a genuine partner to the business (you can demonstrate how you’ve successfully partnered with key stakeholders from the broader business – not just the commercial side of things – in your previous roles).
  • We’d like you to provide a copy of your current practicing certificate along with your application, please.

The good stuff…

  1. We’re excited to offer Share Options as part of our compensation package.
  2. 25 days of PTO per year + public holidays, and we want you to take all of them!
  3. 3 volunteer days to use for any charitable/voluntary cause you would like.
  4. A top-tier private health insurance package.
  5. Aviva pension scheme.
  6. A work from home stipend
  7. A personal learning and development budget through Learnerbly. You’ll be supported in your quest for knowledge, whatever that looks like to you.
  8. If you’re thinking of starting or growing your family, then you’ll be in great company – more than half of our team are parents and we’ve built a globally consistent parental leave approach that we’re proud of.
  9. Employee Referral Scheme.
  10. Cutover mental health initiatives, from fully subsidized therapy sessions to subscriptions to leading wellbeing platforms.
