As a Lead JavaFX Application Developer, you will …
Support a Federal Health Client.
Focus on the discovery and advancement of open source solutions in the laboratory domain.
Be responsible for writing code, conducting tests to develop a seamless user experience using JavaFX in conjunction with back end data and service layers while guiding a team through scaled delivery.
Be responsible for the review of existing code and designs while working closely with a diverse software development team.
Focus on ensuring accessibility for all users by developing a front end that functions across browsers, platforms, and devices while meeting accessibility and security requirements.
Work in a hands on development role that will offer exposure to the full development cycle whilst working closely with the business team.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 5 years of experience in user interface (UI) development on Java; experience with UI development for desktop applications.
Proficient in Java, JavaFX and the associated toolchain for development of enterprise applications.
At least 3 years JavaFX application development experience (JavaSwing application development acceptable).
Alternative: Google Web Toolkit, Java Server Faces, and similar experience will be considered, if candidate is willing to apply those skills to JavaFX development.
Deep knowledge of concurrent programming, including an ability to program responsive UI with background computation threads supporting a single foreground presentation thread.
Data structure and algorithm expertise including a mastery of graph data structures and an ability to select and apply algorithms that optimize code for space and time efficiency.
Understanding of modern software development practices: version control, issue trackers, automated documentation, etc.
Experience with web services.
Experience implementing binary serialization.
Embedded Keystore database experience.
Experience developing custom Java GUI controls.
Experience with using JavaFX SceneBuilder.
Experience managing software projects with Apache Maven.
General understanding of the software engineering life cycle.
Strong problem-solving and written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
6+ years Java application development experience.
Creative thinking: ability to drive ideas and execution strategies from ambiguous origins.
Deep interest in delivering quality user experience to drive early adoption.
Knowledge of user interface best practices.
Familiarity with Java Swing.
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot performance issues and optimize web applications.
Experience with Health IT based research.
An understanding of HL7.
Statistical process controls, HRO, learning health systems.
Understanding of Health IT systems development.
Experience working in a small team environment.
