Job Description

At a Glance:

Makersite is an award-winning data software company that empowers teams to manage product sustainability, cost, and compliance simultaneously, from web to browser. Our mission is to help manufacturing companies make better decisions and create safer, more sustainable products through data-driven analysis. We believe that technology can help corporations to have a more positive impact on their environment. That is why we developed a platform that uses innovative technology, big-data, and breakthrough algorithms to deliver product intelligence unlike anything on the market.

For manufacturing companies with complex supply chains that want to accelerate product development, build resilience, or reduce costs, Makersite is a disruptive digital twin platform that uses AI to connect and enrich cross-departmental data into live models for analysis, collaboration, and decision support. Digital twins can be used to understand how externalities like regulations, supply shortages etc. affect a business and help teams evaluate scenarios considering multiple criteria like costs, environment, compliance etc. at the same time.

We are a fast-growing start-up of 30+ people. We are a remote team based in Germany, with colleagues worldwide, including the USA, UK, and Japan. We are on a mission to accelerate the move to a sustainable economy by changing the way things are made.

Requirements

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone that is passionate about the power of AI, data, and software and how it speeds up decision-making. We want you to join us in building a solution that empowers the largest manufacturers to make sustainable products and supply chain decisions – from design to end of life.

The role:

The role of Head of Data is the first of its kind in our company and will be reporting to our CTO. You, together with your team, will ensure that the various databases are kept up to date and well connected with one another. To maintain our position in the market, you will strategically ensure that the extension of our databases is in line with our current and future customer needs, and we maintain our position as category leaders.

The right person would have:

  • Proven experience working in Data Management, Data Architect, Head of Data, Senior Data Project Manager or a similar leadership role
  • Extensive knowledge in how to develop data strategies, and how these are put into real innovation
  • The right perception to look at remarkably interesting data and could quickly map this data to our model systematically and effectively
  • 5yrs plus experience working with complex enterprise data architecture with a particular focus on supply chain, LCA, sustainability or compliance data in terms of products (linked data)
  • A hands-on approach, in terms of what tools to use and likes to do it themselves, but understanding when to delegate this work to specialists
  • Built data platforms previously; with a combination of public and proprietary data that had the added requirement of having worked with a variety of data that needed to be connected in systematic ways.
  • Broad in-depth technical knowledge covering infrastructure, data storage, application, and product areas of technology.
  • Extensive internal and external stakeholder management, with proven experience in the selection and development of partnerships by understanding give-gets
