Job Description

The VP of Marketing will be responsible for designing, implementing, and analyzing effective marketing strategies for brand building, category creation, developer community, and customer acquisition. As leader of the marketing organization, you will be responsible for working with the founders, product, and sales teams to shape company strategy, including planning and execution of go-to-market activities. You must have a proven track record in product-led growth marketing activities with respect to customer acquisition and brand building for highly technical customer profiles.

 

What you will do

  • Contribute to and own the Gretel marketing strategy and the go-to-market plan, while working closely with, and advising founders, exec team, and sales teams to systematically execute that plan

  • Establish an engaging business presence online that drives awareness and helps in reaching business goals

  • Build long-term relationships with customers, clients, vendors, journalists, analysts, and other stakeholders

  • Build brand awareness

  • Manage and up-skill a highly proficient and productive marketing team

  • Scale the marketing team as we go from a small, early stage team to a large but agile later stage team 

  • Oversee the growth of our developer community with the help of Developer Relations

  • Determine marketing budget according to the campaign goals

  • Design campaigns at scale with a focus on high ROI

  • Design innovative and measurable marketing campaigns focused on KPIs

  • Decide the channels of marketing to reach prospects

  • Track cross-channel attributions to accelerate conversions in limited advertising spend

  • Partner with PR agencies and media houses to solidify brand reputation and increase the success of product launches.  

 

Requirements

  • Early stage start-up experience as a VP

  • Experience designing and building strategy for a SaaS self-service product and working closely with Sales on GTM functions

  • Proven track record building a marketing organization in a product-led-growth marketing role

  • Track record of creating a culture of measurement, experimentation, and data-driven decision making

  • Track record of creating and executing various marketing campaigns, both for the short term and long term

  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment and influencing cross-functional stakeholders

  • Thoughtful and evolving approach to leadership with experience hiring, up-skilling, and scaling a high-performing marketing team

  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Superb interpersonal communications both written and verbal

  • Detail oriented planning, reporting, and forecasting 

  • B.S. or  M.A. degree in marketing or relevant technical field

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in a marketing leadership position

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a marketing role with hands-on experience with SaaS products

Nice to haves

  • Experience in one or more of the following domains: Data Science, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence

  • Marketing experience with developer tools product or a developer community

  • Be able to advise and coach Marketing Ops team members to optimize this function

  • Experience with category creation in an early market
